Is there a way to disable smiley faces?

  I don’t like the looks of smiley faces in my blog. They just don’t fit. I am always forced to put a space in between the characters so they aren’t automatically read and changed into a smiley.

  Is there a way to disable the use of the smiley faces? So that they are always text and never an image?

  Yes, go to settings > writing and you can disable them there.
