Is there a way to display an image in a lightbox ?

Is there a way to display an image in a lightbox as I’m able to do with a plugin on self-hosted wp blogs ?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Not at this time. We can have galleries and an image carousel but no light box.
It is something folks have been asking for and IMO it would be very nice.

No lightbox…maybe i will quit again with wordpress. It is ugly when you click at an picture and the picture appears like 1998 in an old IE.

You mean when the version on the post links to the real-size file alone. No one obliges you to select that option: the image can be non-clickable, or it can link to an attachment page; see this post of mine:

But i can’t use this lightboxes in this blogs without a own domain, isn’t it?
A few years ago i had three domains with wordpress and lightboxes and they worked fine, but now i only use this “cheap” solution.

Yes, that is why I said you can’t have a lightbox here on wp.com. And it’s a nice way to display pictures and information so I do wish it would be available here.
