Is there a way to listen to audio without downloading it?

    Hi there,

    I would like to upload some audio for people to hear without them being able to download it. I did check out all the support info. under audio and experimented with Soundcloud, but it’s not what I am looking for. I wondered if maybe someone knew a good media hosting site that offers this service, or if maybe there was a widget or some code or something that could make the audio player with WordPress do it.

    If you follow the instructions here:

    http://support.wordpress.com/audio/ to embed the WordPress Audio player then users will be able to listen to the music without downloading it.

    Hi there,

    I did do that, but they can still download it, because there’s a little arrow pointing down on the extreme right that opens a drop down menu with an item, «Save as source», and then they can save the file. :(

    Although hang on…if I upload the files to my iDisk, and then copy the URL there and use the small little player that’s just got the speaker and the play button…is that what you mean? I’ll try that next…

    Yes, that’s what she means. You use the small player, not any of the fancy ones.

    !!! You guys are so awesome! You have NO idea how GREAT this is going to make my life!

    Sorry for not realizing it right away –it’s like when you’re doing the crossword and the answer is right there but you can’t see it, and then you go away for a little while and come back and it’s so obvious!

    (Plus, when I still had hair, I used to be a blond…;) )
