Is there a way to make a gallery not clickable?
-
I would like to use the gallery block to easily show images side by side but I don’t want the images to open into a gallery when clicked. How can I disable the user’s ability to click on gallery images? I have the ‘link to’ option set to none for each gallery.
Am I thinking about this the wrong way? Is there something different that I should be doing to get the layout that I want without having images be clickable?

Hi whatsaroundthebend22,
Your question had me scratching my head a bit too, because I also assumed that setting the gallery “Link to” none setting would have prevented anything from happening when the images are clicked.
It turns out it happens because the “Image Gallery Carousel” is set to “Display images in full-size carousel slideshow” in the WP Admin dashboard.
I can’t see a way to access this setting from “My Site” but you can find it if you use the “WP Admin” link at the bottom of the “My Site” menu, and in the dashboard that opens up you navigate to Settings -> Media and scroll down to the Image Gallery Carousel section, uncheck the “Display images in full-size carousel slideshow” checkbox and hit the “Save Changes” button.
Be aware that if you disable the carousel slideshow there it will use that setting for all galleries on your site, I can’t see a way to enable/disable it for individual galleries.
Let us know how you get on with that.

Thanks for the help, henriettestewart!
I just tried navigating to the settings for media and it doesn’t look like I have that option. My settings show this for Image Gallery Carousel:
*Background color
*Metadata- Show photo metadata (Exif) in carousel, when available (yes/no)
*Tiled Galleries-Display all your gallery pictures in a cool mosaic (yes/no)I tried enabling that last setting but it didn’t seem to do anything.
Any other ideas? Maybe some Custom CSS that I can apply to the gallery block?

UPDATE: I figured it out! Turns out Jetpack is the culprit. I just had to navigate to Jetpacks Writing settings and display images in a full-screen carousel gallery
