Is there a way to only use the background of a theme?

    I’m sorry I sound like a broken record but the only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs are found here > http://wordpress.com/themes/

    My mistake for not making it clear, I am hosting the site with a web hosting company. I inadvertently created two wordpress accounts and I was not able to post from the actual account that has the theme already installed.I need to contact WP support to figure out a way to delete the duplicate account but I have my hands full with so many other things that its taken a backseat.

    I think what I’m basically looking for is a no column theme and it does not seem as though that even exists. All the themes have 1 or more columns.

    I access my WordPress account through something called Softaculous and Cpanel that the web host has given me a username and password to.

    What a crying shame you did not reveal that up front because nothing we have discussed here is of use to you at all. We provide support ONLY for those who have free hosted WordPress.COM blogs here and no others. Sorry but we cannot help you here at all. That’s not a free hosted WordPress.COM blog and you are posting to the wrong support forums. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.org bloggers.

    @TT:
    No, they mean a wp.org theme:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/the-vintage

    @pocahontasisland:
    Here’s its bg image:
    http://wpbtips.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/the_vintage_bg.jpg
    You can upload it to the blog and use it as bg image on one of the themes that are available to us in Appearance > Themes.

    “But with the information that auxclass and timethief have given me, I now know this is not really doable.”
    No, it’s doable. All you need is a theme with no sidebar and with transparent main content. But I’m off to work now, so I’ll be back with suggestions later today.

    “Then, I would want to create rectangular and/or square shapes to put the basic information about the museum in and a brief history.”
    To help me help you, edit the About page of your wordpress.com blog and add all the info you want, with headings to mark each separate item.

    Did you read that?

    But I didn’t refresh before posting…
    Sorry, your mistake changes everything, as timethief pointed out.

    @TT: As you can now tell, I saw the news after posting my reply…

    Oh,sorry. I had no idea there was a wordpress.org and a wordpress.com. I’m totally confused now, lol. The reason why i didn’t mention the hosting up front is because my question was about design, I didn’t know that the way the site was hosted would have anything to do with it but obviously I was mistaken. I will see if the other account is with wordpress.org and post there. Sorry for wasting everyone’s time!

    I started out way up here preparing to determine if you really were referring to a WordPress>COM blog or if you were referring to a WordPress>ORG install when I said this:

    If you want to hack the theme then this is not the place for that.

    However, we had too many Volunteers responding to this thread and my next step which would have been to secure the link to the exact blog in question went by the boards. Best wishes with your site.
