Is there a way to remove inactive/deleted followers?
-
Some of the users following my blog have deleted their accounts but they are still showing up on my followers list and being counted as followers. Is there a way to remove those accounts so that I my blog has an accurate follower count?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there!
I believe they will show up here: https://toritwine.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php
Does that help?

Your followers control their own subscriptions – you don’t and can’t do this for them. Below are brief instructions for unsubscribing from a blog if the person has a WordPress.com username account:
1. click the “unsubscribe” link on the emails of the posts received at the very bottom of the emails.
2. go here > http://wordpress.com/#!/read/edit/ locate and click the “x” next to any blog there to unfollow it and no longer receive posts in the Reader or by email.
3. go to the blog in question and click the unfollow/follow link on your Admin bar.If the subscriber does not have a WordPress.com username account then 1. applies.
1. click the “unsubscribe” link on the emails of the posts received at the very bottom of the emails. -

Note that we cannot deleted wordpress.COM accounts, we can only deactivate them. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/delete-account-510?replies=2#post-2486806 -

@lbriaI’m not promising but perhaps if you list the inactive username accounts in an email sent to Staff at
help@wordpress.com
they may remove them for you. -
Where is the official announcement?
you don’t really expect an announcement now do you?? that is not the WordPress.COM way – I just saw it dropped in – but it is in part of the blue stuff I don’t really use much, so I would not have seen the new tab
convenient feature – open to abuse but then so is much of the internet

yes it would be nice to show up in the user interface I use also –
I have only had one occasion in several years where it would have been useful – a blog that I admin – one of their relatives wanted to unsubscribe and had trouble finding the tiny link at the bottom of the email – worked when I sent them a how to find the link
In my subscribers I have some jerks, spam subscribers and some folks with sites suspended for TOS issues – but since I don’t pay much attention to who subscribes they don’t really bother me – would not have know they subscribes but a notice is sent for a new subscriber
don’t even look at the subscriber count, nor put the count Widget on my site

Thanks, everyone. I’ll try the “My Site > People” option and see if that works. I’m mainly just try to clean out spam followers and those who have deactivated their accounts so I have an accurate follower count.
