Is there a way to save every post and page to my computer?
-
In case my blog is hacked or if I want to delete it, is there a way to save all of the writing on my computer? One day when I close the blog I will want to save everything I write, or even if it is hacked I want to have it all backed up.

Go to your wordpress.COM dash-board. Now, click “manage”, and scroll over to “export”. At the bottom click “download export file”.
That will save all your posts, pages, comments, tags, and any other stuff you saved. It will be saved as an XML document. If you ever get hacked, just go to “Manage”, and click “import” and you’ll be able to load that file on.
I would suggest that you try exporting your stuff at least once a month. I hope that helped!

The FAQ on exporting ( http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/can-i-migrate-my-blog-from-here-to-another-blog-somewhere-else/ ) recommends that you not do this just for backups because it uses a lot of resources.
And hacking has yet to be an issue here at wordpress.COM.
Besides, having an export file doesn’t really solve the problem of having copies of your writings, since the file is a machine readable one. Best bet, if you really want to have a backup, is to use an off-line blog editor, such as Windows Live Writer, to write your posts.

I did export the XML file, but that’s not a copy of my writing which is what I want.
Actually a few years ago my WordPress.net blog (hosted on my own website) was hacked. Thankfully not too much was damaged.
I love writing directly in WordPress and I don’t want to go back and save every individual post.

wordpress.ORG is not the same as wordpress.COM. The security is totally different and if you do a search of the forums, you’ll find that every instance of a claim of “hacking” has been that someone has given someone else access to their blogs and there was NO “hacking” involved.
I figured the XML file was probably not what you wanted. Have you tried one of those services that converts your blog into a pdf?
-
I meant wordpress.org, not .net. I know they are different. I’m just saying that I’ve been through the experience before where I logged in to my dashboard and my blog was missing posts, had new offensive posts written, settings changed, etc. Luckily I was able to fix everything. And I have never given anyone any access to any of my blogs, ever.
Which services? I’ve never heard of that before.

Yea, Vivian is right. Try that site. It will make a PDF document of all your posts, and pages.

When your on that site, you need a copy of that XML document, that I said above. And you’ll need to type in your site. And it will convert The XML into PDF, and you can upload it to wordpress.

You can always use your browser to “Save Page.” (That’s the command in Firefox.) You can save it as a web page, with all formatting, readable with your browser, or just as a text file. If you set your blog to show ten posts at a time, you can save all ten as one file. That’s easier than saving one post at a time. I suppose it’s best to start at the beginning and save the first ten posts. Then click on “newer entries” to get the next ten posts on screen and save that as another file, then move on to the next ten, etc. It can be a lot of work at first, but when you’ve got them all saved, you’ll only need to do incremental saves from then on.

If you’re a bit geeky, you should be able to pull down your entire blog with curl or wget.
Both are standard on *nix OSes (Linux, Mac OS X, ect) and can be obtain through cygwin (among other things) on Windows.

I used that blog booker thing – thank you so much VivianPaige! That site is awesome.
Thanks everyone for the ideas!
