Is there an alternative to GFC on WP.com?

Does WordPress have a function that would allow people to publicly follow me (much like Networked Blogs or Google Friend Connect)? I understand the issue with Plugins and the problems it poses for those of us who do not host our own site (I’m afraid I’m not savvy enough to do that yet), but I’d still like to participate in networking tools such as these. Does WordPress offer an alternative?

We do not have a followers widget for WordPress.com blogs. We can subscribe to WordPress.com blogs and you can enable blog subscriptions for your readers by following these instructions > http://en.support.wordpress.com/blog-subscriptions/

You can post a Facebook badge in your sidebar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-badge/You can also enable sharing buttons on your posts, pages and index pages.
Also note the “like” button.

Alternatively you can use Networked Blogs http://www.networkedblogs.com/ or RSS Grafitti http://www.facebook.com/RSS.Graffiti for posting to Facebook walls if you prefer. RSS Graffiti periodically checks the RSS/Atom feeds that you specify and posts any new entries it finds to the Facebook Walls that you specify.
