Is there an easier way to sort the display order of my posts other than changing the publish dates?

  Is there an easier way to sort the display order of my posts other than changing the publish dates? I have “The Latest News” on the right side of my site, and I wish there way some super easy way to chosse in what order they are displayed. As it stands now, I have to change the publish date which is time consuming and messes with the URL links. I wish there was a way to put a number next to them on the back end that says what position in the list they should be. Thanks, Kyra p.s. I LOVE WordPress :)

  Hey there!

  If you utilize the Recent Posts widget, the posts will display in reverse chronological order.

  For more flexibility, you can use a Display Posts shortcode in a text widget instead. Here is a link that describes how to set that up:

  Thank you so much! I guess the tricky thing is that I want to have control over what order they are in, and the order wouldn’t necessarily depend on the date it was created. That’s why it would be great to be able to assign an ID to the posts, and the posts would display in numeric order. I think I had seen somewhere where I could could assign an ID number, but now I’m not sure…

  Because of the control you want over the posts that display, I’d actually suggest using a blogroll of links.
