Is there any copyrights fees when we add music files from our own computer?

Hi, I have added mp3 files on my blog through the space upgrade function but I was wondering if it is legal to have music files on blogs and do we have to pay copyrights fees (i.e. royalties)?

If you don’t own rights to the music, publishing it on your blog is a copyright violation and pretty much illegal.

Thanks for your reply. Actually, I called the organization in charge copyrights, royalties..etc.. here in France and it seems that publishing music is permitted as long as the blog is for personal use, that there is no adds on it and that u r not monetizing it.

The only difference though is that we’re based in the US, and therefore governed by US copyright law, where any unauthorized duplication of copyrighted material is illegal.
