Is there any DDOS prevention on WordPress.com?
-
Thanks in advance, people!
I’m fleeing to WordPress.com with my tail between my legs, after brute-force DDOS attacks on my self-hosted WordPress site caused my hosting provider to quadruple my prices.
The site has relatively small traffic, anywhere between 2 to 200 visitors per day, but an average probably closer to 20. I’m wondering (and hoping!) that there is some sort of server-side DDOS mitigation software, firewall etc, that prevents DDOD attacks on WordPress.com sites? My site didn’t crash, but the sudden traffic spike made them refuse to let me continue on shared hosting, even though the excess traffic was clearly bot-related and most of it was to my log-on page!
So. Long-winded way of asking a simple question: does anyone know if there is any DDOS-type security measures present on WordPress.com?
Thank-you!!!
Best wishes,

Hi Tony,
All WordPress.com sites are well-protected and we continuously monitor potentially harmful activity to ensure there is no unauthorized access to your content.
Also, there are no limits on bandwidth or traffic your site can get when it is hosted on WordPress.com. We serve billions of pages every month so you can be assured that your site will be up and ready to handle traffic spikes when they happen.
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
