Is there any process to delete empty and clearly abandoned WordPress blogs?

This is kind of an asinine question and I hope I don’t sound like a jerk but I want to use a certain URL and its taken by a blog which has never had activity of any kind on it (except for the title which was changed to “”Discarded!”) and has remained that way for over ten years. I think it’s a given that the owner would delete it if they knew how. I know web domains expire after a period of time, are there any conditions under which this could happen for WordPress sites?

The URL I’d like to assume is

    intermittentthoughts.wordpress.com/

it’s nothing special but I’ve got my heart set on it. Thanks for taking the time to read this in all likelihood futile post! (for reals)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m afraid that WordPress.com don’t recycle addresses even if they appear to have been abandoned. I have an old empty site I formerly used for testing. I would be mightily peeved if WordPress.com took it away from me just because someone else liked the address. I see you’ve already a site with a similar address though. And there are also the new .blog domains available.

I figured. Thanks for the reply! I do know about the .blog domains, my current domain was actually accidentally registered when I began the process for making intermittentthoughts.blog but quit before making a purchase (I realized it was rather silly to spend significant sums of money for that purpose). I feel pretty ashamed of this entire exercise and I’ll probably start completely afresh with a personal domain. Thanks again!
