Is there any specific Theme for webs with a lot of text on its pages?
-
Hello,
I have a problem with my web. I’d like it to be a normal web with a certain number of pages (not a blog), and go adding in those pages more and more information (text and pictures), so I never do any post. Therefore, I’ve chosen a Theme (Big Brother) I thought it was the most suitable to have a lot of text in each page (wide text space, …). The problem is that, when I’m editing a page, if it’s a lot of information there, it goes really slowly. Sometimes even I’ve lost all my work because it loses the connection.
I thought it could maybe be a problem with my computer, but even in new and fast computers I notice the same problem (even in different browsers: Firefox, Chrome, …). My web storage is almost empty (I’ve only used the %2 of its capacity), so I don’t understand why is so hard to load the page. When I try to load the “Editing” page it also sometimes informs me that there is a Script not working well. “Script: https://s2.wp.com/wp-includes/…nymce.min.js?ver=4205-20150910:3”
My question is, is there any Theme more designed to be a Web and not a Blog? or any different way to put the text in (add information maybe on html, …) so it could work faster? Did I made it badly from the beginning making a Web on a Blog system?
I’d thank a lot any type of help, cause this problem slows down completely my work.
Regards,Gorka Alonso

is there any Theme more designed to be a Web and not a Blog?
Hi there,
A blog is a website.
A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.
What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.
Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/
Here’s a link to my step by step post too http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/07/25/create-a-wordpress-website-step-by-step/
When I try to load the “Editing” page it also sometimes informs me that there is a Script not working well. “Script: https://s2.wp.com/wp-includes/…nymce.min.js?ver=4205-20150910:3”
I don’t know how to help with that so I typed modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. The problem is that, when I’m editing a page, if it’s a lot of information there, it goes really slowly. Sometimes even I’ve lost all my work because it loses the connection.
If you are losing your connection that’s an issue for your ISP.
In order to help you Staff need to know your specific computing environment details. Please work through what follows and report back.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
If applicable see here for instructions on how to clear the cache for Chrome and Safari on the iPad:

http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/How-To-Clear-Browsing-Data-In-Chrome-For-Ipad_6.htm(b) Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled
http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654(c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily. Know also that security and firewall programs and programs that run incognito mode may need to be temporarily disabled as well.
(d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
4. You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and download and install the latest version of flash.
5. Try using another browser.
6. If you are not successful please provide this info:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/
(c) Exactly what you experience including what any error reports you receive state. -
No matter what theme you choose, if you put enough content on one page, especially if there is media included such as images or videos or other embeds, the page will inevitably slow down and possibly stop working if you put too much into one page. In a case like that, the best solution would be to limit the amount of content you’re adding per page, or separate some of the content into subpages.
