Is there any way to create a new post and have it NOT update the front page?
-
Hi guys,
Just starting out here and I had a question:
I’d like to link to some trailers on my blog/site, but I don’t want to blow-up my front page with ONLY trailer posts as I fill out my back catalog. Is there any way to create a new post in an almost “hidden” status? Ideally, I’d make the post and it would go immediately to the archive. Alternatively, could I manually change the date it is posted (to, say, 5 years ago)?
Thanks!

Hi Matt. You can change the date to one in the past before hitting the “publish” button:

You’re welcome.
I’ve been there before, importing all the contents of my old website into a WordPress.com manually :-) -
Thanks for the idea, Airodyssey. I am wondering if that also applies if I want the first page to remain the same always, i.e. change the dates of all subsequent posts to earlier dates than the first page?
Is there an easier way to do it?

@xiandarkthorne: You can set a static front page if you wish. That would be easier:

Morning @airodyssey
@xiandarkthorne: if you want a Post to remain at the top then just set it to “Static” – it’s an option in the Publish box.
