is this a free site or not?

I picked wordpress because it was free. now no one can find it on facebook. I am linked to facebook but they still cant find it. do I have to pay? When I tried to problem solve, it said I had to pick some sort of theme and all the themes cost $$. what’s the deal? I just want a simple site I can upload some photos and share with my friends. can I do that here or not?
