Is this advertising of is it really a pingback link?

If someone could please answer this question, I would be grateful. Ever since I posted an entry with the words “computer archives” in it(not a tag, not a topic, just a line in the body of the post)I have been pingbacks on that post from “tech” and science sites. When I visit the sites, a link to my post shows up on their page under “related posts about computer archives”. The spam filter catches these, but I have seen several of them held in the queue. While I would like a pingback if it was on a relevant site, I’m not sure if I should go in and change the post’s wording to stop getting these links. Are these pingbacks a new kind of advertising?
I am new to the wordpress, so please don’t yell at me if this topic was already covered–just send me a link to the related answers. Thanks! :)

We can’t speculate without seeing a) the post and b) at least one of the suspect pingbacks.
