Is this possible: News Template with no feat. categories?

Is there a way to get Nuntius Theme to show posts with the news template, but without the “featured category”?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The theme isn’t designed with such an option in mind. The only way I’ve found that fools it is if the featured category is a child category to a parent category with no posts filed under it.

That still didn’t work. I’ve done it before on accident, but I don’t remember exactly what I did.

It does. Step by step:
1. Add a new category to a published post – say, ChildCat.
2. Go to Posts > Categories: Create another new category (one you’ll never assign to any posts) – say, NoPostsCat. Edit ChildCat and select NoPostsCat as its parent.
3. Go to Appearance > Theme Options: Set ChildCat as the featured category. -
Got it. I had to set a category with out posts as parent and then go under theme options and make that category the primary featured category. Basically, your directions with a few tweeks. Thanks.
