We have tips for transitioning from the classic editor to blocks https://wordpress.com/support/switching-from-the-classic-to-the-block-editor/ and FAQs: https://wordpress.com/support/replacing-the-older-wordpress-com-editor-with-the-wordpress-block-editor/#frequently-asked-questions
And, if you really want to use something like the classic editor, we recommend sticking with the classic block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
For more details, please see https://wordpress.com/blog/2020/08/13/the-classic-editing-experience-is-moving-not-leaving/
We do recommend the new editor though, and we have some extensive documentation available at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/

Many thanks for trying hard, but but for me it feels like a sick joke.

I cant use it. I do as instructed, I cant highlight the text, when I write “classic” and it appears at the bottom of the text. I co back to highlight the text, then go back to the bottom and it is gone.
Please explain how I do it
1. I enter my username
2. I enter my password
3. The same editor as I am used must appear exactly as in the past, nothing else
How do I achiever this. Please do not send me another trove och links and explanations. Please never mention the word “block” ever again.
I spent a year starting up this and it was to support me in my old age, so it has huge financial importance to me. If I don’t get it right, it will be time to call the lawyers and the media with the story.

Hi Karl –
Will you let me know what browser and version number you’re using? Also, do you have any extensions enabled? Try turning those off and clearing your cache once too.
-
Latest version available of Firefox, no addons, cache cleared
Let me repeat this again.
When i log in I want to see the editor I used earlier, it works well and i am not taking easy to having this complex non working garbage rammed down my throat.
Tell me how to do it. Just now I had to move the blog elsewhere to be able to continue.
Personally respectfully, there is no need to look for any real or imaginary problems in my end. Everything works perfectly everywhere else. Just tell me how to use the old editor as it was.

It is not possible to reactivate the ‘classic editor’ on your site, but you can add it via a plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/
It is not possible to install plugins on free sites on WordPress.com, but you can upgrade to our Business plan to enable that option:
https://wordpress.com/businessYou are also welcome to migrate from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress site, which are sites that you create on a “traditional web host” like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc. Self-hosted WordPress sites have the ability to add plugins by default More info here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hi mychinaway,
I found a different answer in this topic: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/classic-editor-58/, look at the very bottom.
Looks like there is a way to get back to the old editor, explained in this article:
https://wordpress.com/support/editors/#classic-editorI tried it in my blog, I have a free account, and was able to get to the classic editor.
