Is this WordPress.com blog another form of spam?

  This WordPress blog is now following my blog. I suspect it is some sort of spam. Can you check it out please and tell me how I can block it?

  If any blog following you, it’s mean your blog is niche and you are write a great blog. it’s not a spam.

  I think Andrewhopes is being a little too simple with his response. In a utopian world, he is correct, but unfortunately in there real world there are countless “followers” who are fake and are just trying to get people to visit their own sites for whatever reason. This particular one seems like it may or may not be real… believe me when i tell you that there are FAR FAR worse “followers” who could like your blog.

  There is currently no way to “remove/hide a follower” but other than messing up your stats they are relatively harmless (remember, anyone can follow your site via email or RSS feed).

  Just wait till you get some crazy Likes..

  While lanceolot is correct that you cannot remove your followers (other than by making your site entirely “Private”) if you find a WordPress.com site that you suspect may be spam, you and any other WordPress.com member can report the site via your Admin bar while on that suspected site.

  Hover your cursor over the name of the site in the Admin bar and a drop down menu will appear where you can “report this content”. There are a number of choices and after you tick the “report as spam” please read the note there:

  Use this option to report blogs that are machine or randomly generated or blogs that contain unethical and commercial content designed to drive traffic to third party sites. This includes blogs designed with the sole purpose of driving the search engine rankings of other websites.

  Thanks Jennifer. The content does not make much sense and the apparent aim of the blog has not relevance to mine. I will make a report and see what happens.

  I have some followers that are suspect since their blogs were suspended for TOS violation – currently just part of the territory – not much can be done as far as I know
