Is Using an Alternate Homepage Recommended?

    Hello,

Since starting making a wordpress site for the first time, I remember reading at various times the importance of topics such as “child themes,” “static page,” and other safeguards to protect a Homepage in case of a theme update. All of which I have not yet done.

My homepage was suddenly wiped clean on a different account (Assembler theme), and am wondering if doing any methods to protect a Homepage from sudden change / error / update is still advisable — and what is the preferred method?

I notice that things such as what theme you use (Customizer vs. Editor), block themes, full side editing, and others all have a bearing on what options you might have to take.

With Assembler theme, is there anything to do beyond the default settings for the Homepage to make sure it doesn’t change due to an update or any other reason not by the user? Create a child theme? Or create a blank page and recreate the Homepage on it and set it as the static page?

    Thanks
