Is WordPress about to shut down?

Is WordPress about to shut down? I feel like such an amateur on your site. The drop down menues no longer work. The tags, I can no longer use. When I try to save the java or whatever flips the page all over the place. Could you suggest another site: one that works. What’s up? Get it together, for chissake!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Not suffering any of the anomalies you describe, but can you be a bit more specific?
Where exactly do the drop down menus not work? What is it you are doing that you can’t use tags? When you say “When I try to save the java or whatever…” where exactly is that happening?
What browser are you using? (Make AND version, please)
The first thing you should try is log out of WordPress.com entirely, clear your browser cache and cookies and then try logging in again.

@krancher As @justjennifer suggested those details will help narrow things down. The browser issues page she links to should clear up the issues you’re running into.
WordPress.com is definitely not shutting down. If you can help with a few details we’ll all be happy to help you get this sorted out so that you no longer have these issues with the site.

I too am having issues with trying to add a post to wordpress. I use the same browser I always use (firefox, 3.6.13) and has always worked just fine.
here are just some of the issues I’m facing:
1. when I try to add a link to text, the pop-up for the url & title shows up fine and I add the info. when I select the “update” button however it closes the add post page and goes to the page which lists all my posts.
2. similar to #1 when I also select “open in new window” check box, and then press update, another pop-up appears asking if I really want to leave this page without saving.
3. when trying add an image, I select the ‘add image’ icon…nothing happens. tried several times making sure my mouse is actually over the icon…nothing happens. I see in the status bar that the icon is a link and wants to go to: http://motm.wordpress.com/wp-admin/media-upload.php?post_id=248&type=image&TB_iframe=1 however when I click it, it goes nowhere. Normally, a pop-up appears for me to add my image.
4. trying to edit linked text. normally I would click on the linked text and press the link button (infinity-like symbol) and proceed to edit the linked address. today, when I select the linked text, the pop up fails to appear. I have to edit via the HTML tab.
These are just a few of the issues I’m facing today.
Oh and I did log out…same issues happen. It also seems to not matter whether I’m adding a post or editing an existing post.
Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

I went back and logged out again and cleared the cache, and that resolved the problem.
I’m just curious, though, I’ve been posting to this blog since August 2008 and this is the first time this has ever happened. Why now? and will have to clear my browser’s cache each time? or is this a ‘once in a while’ kind of thing?
again, thanks in advance for your help.

Maureen, once in a while a browser cookie or a cache file can get corrupted. It just happens sometimes. I seldom have to clear my cache and cookies, but for some they seem to have to do it more often.
Sometimes I think staff might have done an update or perhaps rolled out some new bug fix code or something that can cause some browsers to act cranky and clearing the browser cache and cookies typically will correct any dashboard related issues.
I expect there are updates and bug fixes happening since the wordpress core version 3.1 is nearing its release date and staff is likely keeping up with the nightly builds on core.
