  Am confused and want to know if wordpress is an open source

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  WordPress.ORG is. WordPress.COM is not, although it is based on WordPress.org which is. See this thread for the differences:

  Ummm…. the internet? Virtually the entire internet runs on open source software (well except for that small percentage of delusional people who drank the Microsoft kool-aid and paid for Windows IIS).

  I could, but if you want that level of hand-holding, I’m going to have to charge you my consulting rate, and it’s not cheap. If you don’t already know a single example of open source software development, why do you care? Why don’t you just look at WordPress.org?

  I asked the question because the development community of the open source software am using is not active. I’m a business student and want to work with similar applications.

  As a new member of wordpress, i find this forum very interesting and also its a platform to meet like-minds. I have always had this strong feeling of been a software developer and would appreciate if i can have some members to put me through.

  This is the wrong forum for that. You need to be at WordPress.ORG instead.

  As Raincoaster pointed out WordPress.COM is not considered an Open Source project.

  If you are interested in using or getting involved in developing Open Source projects
  there is a list on this page of the more well known ones.
