Is WordPress.com affiliated or part of WordPress.Org because you have the same logo ?

    A site called Ebooksumo.com/search/hannah-s-two-homes says it is owned by WordPress.Org and it is illegally advertising my bok Hannah’s Two Homes: Life in a ‘blended’ family; a 5 year old’s perspective as a PDF DOWNLOAD! I NEVER authorized my book being offered as either an E book or audio book, either paid or free, download?

    Hannah’s Two Homes is a work of fiction geared to a pre-K to second grade level. It is a picture book that can be read to a child or, due to its simple sentence structure and vocabulary, might be read by the child who is at a beginning independent reading level. The story represents the thoughts of five-year- old Hannah, who splits her life between her Mom’s and Dad’s residences and her two sets of half brothers and half sisters. In the book, Hannah is sharing what she might be thinking if her emotions were ‘given a voice.’ It can be the springboard from which the reader–parent, grandparent, or teacher–can begin a discussion and show their compassion for the child’s unique situation while gaining some valuable insights into their child’s perspective. It is a story of hope, coping, optimism, and ultimately, the healing power of love.

    I NEVER authorized the ebook or kindle version of my book! I never authorized free OR PAID downloads of my book which you have apparently pirated from one of it’s original publishers-either Xlibris or AuthorCentrix-now out of business. You are breaking the law!

    I have a website on WordPress.org and can only assume that since you own ebooksumo.com/search/hannah-s-two-homes you are mis-using this web-site by advertising my book in this format.Somehow you have illicitly copied the pages of my book in order to present it as available in this format. I alsos saw it on Ebook-New.com…Have you shared this illegal copy with them also. I am checking out other sites which apparently have taken advantage of showcasing my book WITHOUT MY PERMISSION.
    I am contacting my lawyer, the Better Business Bureau, the FCC, The Attorney General of the state of NY,my WORDPRESS website, Facebook, etc. and will make this practice known throughout the kidlit community unless you give me firm, indications, in writing, by your legal department that you will cease and desist in this illegal practice and I no longer see an ebook or audiobook downloadable link- either FREE or PAID- with the new cover, or the original cover (which was also apparently downloaded somehow from Xlibris.com)- on GOOGLE, or on this, or any other affiliated link! It has been illegally viewed over 900 times!!!! It is violating the copyright protection of my property!

    I expect a prompt response and verifiable action on your part to avoid future legal action on my part!

    Hi Melodie,

    WordPress is free open source software, made by a global community of volunteers on WordPress.org. That software is managed by a non-profit organisation called the WordPress Foundation.

    WordPress.com is one of hundreds of hosting providers for that software. We have the same name, as our CEO is one of the two people who created the WordPress software, so we have special permission from the WordPress Foundation to use the WordPress name.

    WordPress.org doesn’t own any sites. It’s also not a hosting provider. It’s simply a platform where the community collaborates to create the software.

    The site at https://ebooksumo.com/ was built using that software, but the people at WordPress.org have absolutely no control over that site, nor do we on WordPress.com, as it’s not hosted on our servers: The WordPress software is free for anyone to download and install on their own server to create a website, and that particular site belongs to the individual who created it.

    If that site is violating your copyright, you’ll need to report them directly to their hosting provider. They’re using CloudFlare.com to serve their DNS, so it’s impossible to determine who that hosting provider is, but you can try contacting CloudFlare directly for help with this, or otherwise you can also try reporting them to their domain provider, https://www.namesilo.com/
