  I’m confused.
  I thought WordPress was a free blogging site.

  is this wrong?

  In order for anyone to find your blog, read your blog, etc. do you have to pay? How much? How do I sign up? Thanks

  WordPress.COM is free. WordPress.ORG is a whole different story.

  If you want to get fancy with it, you can buy upgrades. But just to get a public blog started and start posting pictures and YouTubes and your own writing, it`s free.

  Ah, I bet the sort of ad they have for your own URL confused you. You have to pay to get cathylamb.org but its pretty cheap. You dont have to if you dont want to. And if you dont want http://cathylambdotorg.wordpress.com/ you can probably just go to your grey admin bar at the top of the page and under Blogs, click Register A New Blog and get cathylamb.wordpress.com if it`s available. No charge.

  It IS a confusing signup, I agree.

  It is free unless you want something like a custom domain name of your choosing or you want one of the other upgrades such as the custom design upgrade.

  You can set up a blog here and a few minutes later publish your first post, all for free.

  Why are you thinking it isn’t free for the basic blogging services?

  Well Cathy, it looks like you’re using the free version… unless you’re using WordPress.ORG…

  Wanna get fancy, purchase the things you want such as custom CSS, some premium themes, etcetera.

  Thanks to everyone who wrote… I am so terribly technically NOT gifted.

  I was working on this until about 3 in the morning last night and when I typed in CathyLamb’s blog, it wasn’t coming up. Now, it is. So I presumed there was a charge.

  Nothing good comes of working ’til 3 in the morning. I THINK I did the free one, as it’s up, and I don’t remember punching in a VISA card.

  So, if I could be annoying and ask one more question.

  I made a mistake in the design name.

  I would like it to be Cathy Lamb, instead of Cathy Lamb’s blog. So, then when people look for Cathy Lamb, this blog will come up.

  How do I change that?
  Now, this may be a problem as my old website is Cathy Lamb. Perhaps I need to get rid of the old website first?
