Is WordPress right for me?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I have a website and am looking to rebuild it and have a specific link to the mobile version when I have a visitor on a phone or small tablet.
I do not need to host the site as that is well catered for. I am however, looking for software to create the site.
    Is WordPress right for me?
    Thank you

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  • Hey there,

Happy to help guide you here!

Hi, I have a website and am looking to rebuild it and have a specific link to the mobile version when I have a visitor on a phone or small tablet

Ok, can you tell me the thought process behind having a separate link for mobile and tablet? The reason why I ask is because all themes on WordPress.com mobile-friendly, responsive designs and the content will adjust to look great on a range of devices.

I do not need to host the site as that is well catered for. I am however, looking for software to create the site.

To add a little bit of context, there’s two types of WordPress. The first being WordPress.com, whereby we take care of security, managed hosting and updates for you. The second is known as self-hosted WordPress, which is where the free open source software is downloaded from WordPress.org and installed onto a hosting provider.

More on the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    Is WordPress right for me?

Can you tell me more about the features you think may require and what you hope to achieve with the site in general? I can offer insights on how best to proceed.

Thank you very much for the in-depth response. A lot to chew over.
I notice WordPress is available on my hosting site so I will definitely investigate more.
I have just learned about having one site that automatically adjusts for mobile users and have changed the way my website is built.
    Sincerely, thank you again
