Is WordPress the right way to go for a World Class Website?
-
The scenario:
We are a fast growing company serving Fortune 500 clients with short and long term website strategy needs trying to figure out whether or not WordPress will meet our future requirements.
Soon there will be an article about us at a very important publication so we’ll need to quickly ramp up and go live with a version of a mock up that we have been working on, the only piece that is missing is the platform we’ll be using.
The problem:
1- We are creating a world class website, is WordPress the right way to go?
2- What are the requirements to transfer the domain from our current website to the WordPress version for a smooth transition with very little downtime?
3- If we have our domain and use WordPress are the search engines directing the traffic through WordPress or through our domain? in other words how will Search Engines rate our site and what will happen to that rating if we decided to move to another platform?
4- Is it possible to eliminate the bottom print (i.e: Twenty Twelve)
5- Is WordPress compatible with marketing automation systems and CRMs like Marketo or salesforce?Thank you,

1) that depends entirely on your needs. What are they?
2) 72 hours of iffy-ness is a given whenever you change DNS settings. There is no way around that. You will need the Domain Mapping upgrade for it to work.
3) SEO at WordPress.com is better than on the same website independently hosted. If you move, you will drop somewhat in the search engine rankings.
4) No, this is a requirement.
5) No, WordPress.com is not. WordPress.ORG is. -
Great, thank you for the info:
1- Our website will be mainly for information and videos. We will need CRM and Marketing Automation capabilities and contact forms.
2- What is the process for the Domain Mapping? I don’t see the option on WordPress that allows me to do that.
3- We might be okay with that
4- What is the difference between both?
