Is WP showing ads in free blog?
in WP dashboard, i could see an upgrade link which says:We sometimes display discreet AdSense advertisements on your blog—this keeps free features free!
The ad code tries very hard not to intrude on your design or show ads to logged-in readers, which means only a very small percentage of your page views will actually contain ads.
To eliminate ads on your blog entirely this is the upgrade you want.

Yes, they do. You won’t see them if you’re signed in; no WP.com user sees them when signed in. They mostly show up when people come to the blog via searches.
