Issue connecting WordPress page to purchased domain

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello. I’ve been having an issue connecting my already purchased reclaim domain with my wordpress site. I had already paid for the domain, but it’s not working. When I attempt to connect the two, WordPress won’t let me unless I buy the $96 premium plan. If I try to remove the plan, it takes me back to the page before. This is for an assignment so there is supposed to be no need to pay for anything else besides the domain. Let me know how this can be fixed and my wordpress be connected to my domain.

  • Hi there, on WordPress.com a domain can be connected to a site and set as the primary address specifically with a paid plan:
    https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address/

What this means is that if you’re trying to connect a domain you purchased with another provider by following the guide below, you would end up with a Premium plan added to your cart:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/connect-existing-domain/

What you could do if you want to connect the domain to your site http://hannahlycom.wordpress.com/ would be to use the Personal plan instead; we do also offer a monthly option if you wouldn’t need the plan and domain connection on your site for very long:
