Issue posting comment to wordpress.com/blog/

I attempted to leave a comment on this post: https://wordpress.com/blog/2023/10/24/texts-joins-automattic/#comments

I was logged in to my wordpress.com account. I typed my comment and hit “Reply”, the reply button turned grey, but nothing else happened.

I looked at the Google Chrome Console and the following errors appeared after trying to reply:

Access to fetch at 'https://en.blog.wordpress.com/wp-comments-post.php' from origin 'https://wordpress.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource. I was considering using WordPress.com to host my blog, but the fact that the comment system isn’t working for me the official wordpress.com blog is making me a little bit concerned

My comment was going to be “This looks really useful – excited to give it a try!”

I’ll admit isn’t the most valuable comment, but I wanted to test out the comment UI and there are other comments like “That’s great” on the post so I figured my comment wasn’t getting blocked by moderation.

On an unrelated note, I tried to add the above information to my original post by editing it (rather than posting a reply), but got the following error message:

It would be a much better UI if the “Edit” button wasn’t available to me in the forum if I don’t have the ability to edit

I tried to do a comment on another post (https://wordpress.com/blog/2023/10/18/introducing-command-palette/) and got the same issue.

The messages before “Access to fetch at…” happened when I loaded the page, the rest happened after I clicked the “Reply” button.

I’ve tried a few other trouble shooting methods which all had the same issue.
1. Google Chrome Incognito
2. Nord VPN (using OS level app) with Incognito
My wordpress.com account username is @dpschramm (see screenshot from previous post).

Let me know if there’s anything else I can try!

There are a few other recent forum posts about similar issues:
With the exception of the last post, all have been closed without any information about how this issue was fixed. It would be great to get some more info from the devs on how to troubleshoot / resolve in case folks run into this again in future.

Thanks for sharing what you have found, to be sure I’ve understood, is this an issue only with commenting on posts on wordpress.com/blog, and not an issue with posting on other sites? You seem to indicate that so I wanted to be sure, thanks.
I’ve tried a few other trouble shooting methods which all had the same issue.

Out of curiosity is this an issue if you try an alternate browser like Firefox or Safari? It may help to know if the issue is limited to one browser or found across multiple browsers. Thanks!
