Issue: Published Site Looks Different from Customized Version
-
Hello,
I need some help with my site. When I’m editing in the WordPress editor, my site looks exactly how I want it — with my chosen colors, fonts, and button styles. But when I publish the site and view it live, it looks very different: mostly black and white, and the customizations don’t show up.
I’ve already made sure the homepage is set correctly, and I can see my pages are published. But the live version doesn’t match the customized version I see while editing.
Can you please guide me on how to make my live site look the same as the version I designed in the editor?
Thank you so much for your help!

I understand how frustrating this can be. The issue you’re describing usually happens when the changes made in the WordPress editor (Customizer or Site Editor) are not being applied to the live version of your site. First, make sure that your changes were actually published — in the Site Editor or Customizer, click “Publish” instead of just “Save Draft,” and double-check under Appearance Editor (or Customizer) to confirm that your changes are live.
Next, clear your browser cache or open your site in a private/incognito window to rule out cached versions. If you are using any caching plugin or a CDN (like Cloudflare), make sure to purge the cache as well.
Sometimes, themes have default styles that override block editor changes. Go to Appearance → Editor → Styles and verify that your selected colors and fonts are set as the site’s default. Also, check your homepage settings under Settings → Reading to ensure the correct page is assigned as your homepage. If you made customizations on a specific page, make sure that’s the one being displayed.
Finally, if you’ve added any custom CSS or other modifications, temporarily disable them to see if that resolves the issue. Since Jetpack is not active in your case, plugin conflicts are less likely, but it’s worth testing.
If the problem still persists, please share a screenshot showing how your site looks in the editor versus the live version, along with the name of the theme you are using. This will help narrow down whether it’s a caching problem or a theme-related style override.
