issue with adding domain to website

  I created this website a while ago, last year to be exact. The domain was with Squarespace but I renewed it with Godaddy. Before I was able to type Mec-foundation.org and it goes straight to the website, but now it goes to the one that says mecfoundation.wordpress.com, also I tried all the steps to use a domain I own and it keep saying that mec-foundation.org already is This domain is already connected to a WordPress.com site.

  Hi @write2visionnow,

  I checked the domain mec-foundation.org, and it’s actually linked to a different WordPress.com site under a different account, not the account you’re logged into.

  The site it’s attached to is on the free plan, and free sites can’t use a custom domain as their primary address; a paid plan is required for that.

  If you want the domain to connect to mecfoundation.wordpress.com instead, the domain must first be detached from the other account/site, and then you’ll be able to connect it to your site. Just keep in mind that your site will also need a paid plan in order to use the custom domain as the primary address.
