issue with clicks section of stats
-
i’m quite new to wordpress and i’m still getting used to navigating and understanding everything. my issue is in the stats section where it tells you what links people have clicked on on your blog. as of last night, it says that someone clicked the url “en.wordpress.com/tag/gay” on my blog. the problem is, the tag doesn’t exist on my blog. i’ve never even written the word “gay” on my blog. so, i’m just curious how this is possible. is it a mistake? is it common that it says that people clicked on things that arn’t there?
thanks in advance for the help.

It happens. But not regularly. One of the “Referrals” to my blog tonight came from a forum thread back in May I had absolutely nothing to do with. I also had two “Clicks” from my blog into the forum for topics I’m pretty sure I’ve never included in any of my posts.

thank you so much for your reply. i can rest knowing that it’s happened to someone else and is at least semi-normal.

Clicks out can also include Possibly Related Posts and the Adsense that Wp sometimes runs on our blogs.
