Issue with Dara theme in my blog
-
hi,
Can someone please look at my blog – https://crunchytechbytz.wordpress.com/ and suggest any improvements.
I am using theme Dara and I think I am not using all its features correctly. Any suggestions would be really helpful.I also have few questions and would really appreciate if you guyz can guide me –
1. Home in menu is https://crunchytechbytz.wordpress.com/home/ . I don’t have much content for home page and would like it to link to my website url – https://crunchytechbytz.wordpress.com/
How do I achieve this?2. While publicizing posts on social media, how do I add image with custom message? What is the size of the image supported?
3. While I know that the featured image size is not correct for my blogs and featured images are not appearing correctly. However, my first blog – “Automation: Is the future of work under threat?” is completely overlapping the featured images and not leaving space of 1180*300 to display the featured image?
4. How do i display social media icons below my site title? I am not able to set it through the menu options
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi
I made few changes yesterday night but could not resolve the first issue where Home is not going to the blog url. any help would be really appreciated

Hi there, if you want your site’s homepage to show your latest blog posts, you don’t need to have a separate Home page.
Go to your site’s Customizer >Homepage Settings and make sure that the box next to “Your latest posts” is ticked. Publish your changes.
If Home still appears, you may also need to remove it from your menu. You can do that under Customizer> Menu.
Let us know how that goes.
Here is the set up guide for the Dara theme https://wordpress.com/theme/dara
If you are trying to do something else, please give more details.

Thanks for response. I Have ticker the box next to “Your latest posts” but still when i clink on Home from menu it goes to Home page instead of taking to my blog url
I do not want to remove Home from Menu. Instead i would like user to go to my blog url which displays my latest blogs.
Any suggestions on how this could be done? -
Hello again, it appears you’ve added a static page titled HOME to your site’s menu/navigation bar. The current content of that static page is
Welcome to my technology blog!
This blog is dedicated to explore new trends and the latest technologies related to Java, MicroServices, DevOps and IBM WebSphere Commerce.
Removing that page from your site’s menu in the Customizer should solve this. (You don’t need to delete the page itself.)
After you remove that static page from the menu, you can add a Custom Link called HOME using your site’s base URL to your menu. Here’s more on that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
If you are still having problems with this, you can add the MODLOOK tag to the Tags section of this forum thread’s sidebar to receive Staff assistance. They can see your site’s current settings.
Let us know how that goes.

Thanks justjennifer :)
Your suggestion helped me to get the issue fixed. I am new to blogging so take a look at my blog and let me know if you have any other suggestions for me.

You’re very welcome. Glad to help.
Now that you’ve resolved the home page issue, let me see if I can help with the others:
Sharing to Social MediaYour post’s Featured Image http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/ is the one that is Published to social media. For Dara, the quick specs on the theme showcase page says: Featured Images for posts should be at least 880 wide by 312 tall.
Custom Social Media messagesWhen you are in your post Editor, you’ll see a Module on the right side called “Sharing” and when you open it you’ll see the services you’ve already connected to Publicize https://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/ or you can connect a new service right from there. You can write your custom message in the box and it will be pushed to your social media sites when you publish a new post. (I’m not sure about other social media sites, but to Twitter you can write a custom tweet using nearly 200 characters.)
Adding Social Media Icons: In Dara, there is a special Social Links Menu https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/social-links-menu/ that you can add to your site’s header and footer. You can set this up in the Customizer>Menu.
Images: Good visuals help your users engage with your content. If you don’t have your own images to add, you can find a list of free media sites in this support guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-media/finding-free-images-and-other-media/
