Issue with Leaving Comments

Hello!
I’m helping someone with their blog that they have through WordPress. It has been running smoothly with no issues for a few weeks. However, for the past 2 days, the viewers have been unable to leave a comment. This wasn’t an issue before. I checked that the comments were left ‘on’ and they are. What is happening? What else can I do to fix this?

I do not see any sites under your @erikscheel WordPress.com account when I check on our end. You can confirm by visiting this page: https://wordpress.com/sites.
Is it possible you created your site under a different login? Is it the case that you are you using another provider like GoDaddy, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc. instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?

Thank you for getting back to me. I’m actually helping out a friend with their WordPress blog. I still can’t find a solution to his issue. I noticed he used a Jetpack plug-in. Would this be causing the problem? I already disabled and reenabled it, but it’s not what seems to be what’s broken. Any time that a viewer tries to post, they get – 403 FORBIDDEN ERROR – Access to this resource on the server is denied!

Can you please give the URL of the site in question?
From what you say this site is not hosted on our servers on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress software at another hosting provider. This means we have no control over the site, and aren’t able to help with this. But we are able to check for you whether this might be a problem with the site’s Jetpack connection.
Otherwise, if it’s not Jetpack, you’ll need to ask the WordPress.org community for advice instead, at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
