Issue with opening a pdf file Media Library item with a long url through Inte

  Hi, I am experiencing an issue when using Internet Explorer 9 when trying to open an item in the Media Library where that item has a long url, i.e. a url of 195 or more characters. This appears to be only affecting IE9, it works in IE8, Chrome, Safari. as an example and it appears to be for items in the Media Library.
  For example in IE9, the followin url which is 194 characters long will open ok:
  http://johndavissite.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/dr-1151-add-the-meter-multiplier-and-meter-category-code-value-for-each-relevant-mprn-to-the-com_reg-and-dom_reg12345678901234567890123456789.pdf

  but

  Click to access dr-1151-add-the-meter-multiplier-and-meter-category-code-value-for-each-relevant-mprn-to-the-com_reg-and-dom_reg123456789012345678901234567890.pdf

  which is 195 characters long does not.

  When I click on the link nothing happens

  The following url (229 long) for a page on a wordpress site opens ok:
  . http://nextstoplimerick.com/very-long-1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890/

  as does
  http://johndavissite.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/dr-1151-add-the-meter-multiplier-and-meter-category-code-value-for-each-relevant-mprn-to-the-com_reg-and-dom_reg123456789012345678901234567890.xls which is 195 chars long.

  So the problem appears to be related to the fact that the media library item is a pdf file and the browser is IE9.
  The files I have used here are obviously contrived examples but the problem has been encountered with real files which were loaded in a production environment where the generated url was long. this was solved by shortening the name of the file.
  Any guidance would be gratefully accepted.

  Hi there,

  Because IE9 is an older version of Internet Explorer, some features may not work as expected there. Are you able to update to the lastest version (IE11)? You can download that here if you need: http://browsehappy.com/

  Hi Rachel, unfortunately upgrading the browser is not an option as the problem is occurring at my workplace over Citrix on which iE9 is the corporate browser. It’s not a major issue, I just raised the item to check if WordPress was aware of the issue. I had been dealing with Jeremey Duvall in WordPress about the issue of being unable to upload files in IE9.
