Issue with page title edits

  • Unknown's avatar

Good Night! On my site, I have a page that I edit weekly, changing the date and content each week. The main menu would then show this page, with the edited title. However, today I realize that though the title has been changed, it’s not reflecting on my menu – instead it shows last week’s date. This seems to be a new problem, and I can’t seem to find my cache anywhere to clear it (using the free wordpress service). Is there any clarification I could get, please?

  • Hi! It looks like the label in your site menu might be customized. It might be worth trying this:

    1. Head into Appearance > Editor (beta) to open the Site Editor
(general information about that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-editor/)
    2. Click the ‘Edit’ button at the top of the left-hand panel to start editing your template
    3. Your page link should appear at the top right – click that to select it.
    4. Re-add the “Local songs to listen to” page – it should now show the correct date
    5. Save your change.

With any luck the next time the page title is updated, that should also reflect in the menu.

One thing which might be worth considering is that you could also change the slug of the page (the part of the address which currently shows as local-songs-to-listen-to-december-29-2021/).

You could change that so it only shows up as local-songs-to-listen-to (ensuring to keep the date in the page title too).

That way there won’t be a date difference between the address of the page, and the title. We have more information about the page slug here:
