Issue with Permalinks

Hi there. About two days ago I was editing my site, and in the “Permalinks” section of Settings, I changed the Permalinks option from “Plain” to “Post Name.” Following this, all of the links associated with my site, both from search engines and on my own pages, stopped working, showing Error 404: “Sorry, this page doesn’t exist.” I switched the Permalinks back to “Plain,” but this hasn’t resolved the issue despite over 48 hours of time for updating.

The links are still displayed in the “Post Name” format, both on google and on my site. I noticed that I can fix the links on my site by simply re-entering the hyperlinks. But I can’t do anything about the search engine links.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

    Thank you!!

  • Hi,

It looks like your site is using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but is hosted with another webhost.

We’re only able to provide support for WordPress websites that are hosted by us here at WordPress.com. For help with a WordPress site hosted elsewhere you’ll need to ask over at the WordPress.org forums:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Depending on the level of support that is included with your hosting plan, your webhost’s support team may also be able to assist.

If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the open-source WordPress software you can read this article:
