Issue with pictures
-
Hi there – I’ve noticed my pictures aren’t coming up in my older blog posts. Can you please help?
Here is an example: http://jacquelinejustine.com/2015/03/17/a-lunch-worth-a-post-of-its-own/
Thank you!

Hey Jackie!
I took a look at that link you sent (thank you!) and found the broken images. When I searched for those images in your Media Library, I discovered that they don’t exist there at all.
Is it possible that you deleted the images from the Media Library, or that you changed the images’ names?
Images must exist in the Library, with the same names, in order for them to display on your site.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Oh that is such a bummer… I didn’t know erasing them in the media library would affect the post! Is there a way to fix without re-uploading? There’s a cap on how many pictures can be in the media library which I was worried about broaching.

Hey there!
Unfortunately, you do have to re-upload those images. I wish there were an easier way! When a visitor looks at your site, the images they view are being linked to/drawn from your Media Library. That is why any images you want to display on a page/post MUST remain in your Library.
The great news is that you are totally safe — you’re not close to your Media space limit at all. If you want to keep track of the amount of space you’re using, you can see that in your Media Library:
https://jacquelinejustine.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.phpNotice the area above your media list that says, “You are currently using 73.2 MB out of 3.0 GB upload limit (2%).”
If you want to be doubly careful of your space, I recommend always using optimized images. This way, your images will be beautiful, but they will take up the least amount of space possible:

Thank you for your help! I guess I’ll be spending a couple hours fixing this but at least I know for the future!

Jacqueline,
My pleasure. I always wish I had a magic wand in cases like this! Let me know if you have any other questions at all, and I can help!
Thanks :)
