Issue with post title when it is emailed to followers: [New post] Hearing Accessibility Is Important At Hospice PEI

  • Unknown's avatar

For the last two blog postings, the blog title when it is posted to followers has the term strong in brackets before and after the title. See:
Hearing Accessibility Is Important At Hospice PEI
This is not how it looks online or in previews, which looks as it should.
I have NOT done anything to change the settings, but I did check on the profile as it was suggested that the emails sent to followers was plain text instead of html. It remains as html so that is not the issue.
I’m not a computer expert, so I am stymied. For all the years I’ve had this blog, it has emailed correctly – except for the last two postings.
How can I correct this glitch?
    Thanks for helping.

  • Hi there,

I notice that I can see this on your two most recent posts when I view it in the ‘wp-admin’ dashboard here as well: https://theauralreport.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

Out of curiosity, are you copying/pasting the title from another source, such as a Word Doc, email, or another website? Our engineers are tracking an issue that affects the formatting of the title when it’s pasted, so I’m hoping you can confirm, thanks!

    Hi,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I use Word to write my posting and then copy and paste it into the blog. I am using the same Word program since the blog started so nothing has changed on my end.

Does this help you to clear up this issue?

  • Hi Daria,

Thanks for that information. There is an issue when pasting rich-text formatted text to WordPress.com, and our developers are working on a fix.

In the meantime, there are two workarounds.

    1. Copy your text from Word and paste it using this keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + V

    2. Paste the text into Notepad to strip the rich-text formatting, and then copy and paste it into WordPress.com. After that, you’ll have to format your text in the WordPress Editor.

If you have any other questions, just let me know, and I’ll be happy to help.

Thank you very much! I tried tip #1 just now with a posting for another blog and it worked perfectly.
