Issue with RSS Feed and Images with Engator
-
Looking for some help with our RSS feed and Engator. We use Engator to post to various Facebook, linked in and twitter pages without having to manually do it ourselves.
Engator looks to the RSS feed, grabs the content and then reposts. Unfortunately, the pictures are not posting at this time even though we have a featured image. We used to use RSS Graffiti but they service shut down.
Engator’s FAQ states:
First of all, make sure that you’ve enabled this option from: Edit Feed -> Advanced Settings -> Post Thumbnail Image -> Yes (auto-detected by Engator)
I have this selected.
Our system automatically detects images from your feed and embeds them into each tweet or post. If you find images are not showing, or not displaying correctly, it may be that your RSS feed is not attaching images in a way Engator can recognize.
Engator will look for images in the following RSS elements:
‘
’
or
‘
’
or
‘

Your content ..

….

’or
‘

Your content ..

….

’Any idea where I can find that code? The widget option for RSS doesn’t give me the ability to see any of that.
Any help would be appreciated!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, I had not. I just looked at it. And while that’s a great option, it lacks the ability to utilize multiple Facebook accounts. Currently we have three of us using our personal accounts and then three pages as well for our Facebook postings.
Unfortunately, I don’t think that option will work for us in this context. Do you have any information pertaining to the RSS feed and coding itself that can be accessed by the end user?

Hi Adam,
With Publicize, you’re welcome to add multiple Facebook accounts to the same blog. You can either have each user on the blog link to their own account, or have one user add multiple accounts and share them with everyone on the blog. You’ll just need to add one Facebook account or page at a time, and then use the “Connect a different account” button to add another one.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
If you’d like to look at your site’s RSS feed, to see if it will work with Engator, you can find that here:

However, please note that WordPress.com RSS feeds are generated automatically and there are a limited number of changes you can make to them. You can learn more about Feeds to see what options you have for that.

When I added my personal account and then attempted to add a page I’m an administrator on, it replaced my personal account…Any thoughts? Also, is it possible to have certain categories post to certain Facebook pages?
eg. Categories Blue, Red and Green. All of them post to Facebook page “All Colors” and categories Blue and Red also post to the Facebook page “Primary Colors Only”, while category green does not.

Hi Adam,
Sorry about that! I was mistaken earlier — you can have multiple users on their blog each with different Facebook connections, but each user can only be connected to a single Facebook profile or page. That was my mistake, and I’m sorry I didn’t catch it. In this case, you’d need to create separate WordPress.com accounts in order to publicize to the Facebook pages in addition to your personal profiles.
Also, is it possible to have certain categories post to certain Facebook pages?
There isn’t a way to automate that, but for each post you publish you can choose where you want it to be publicized. If you don’t want a certain post to go to a certain page or profile, you can uncheck that in the editor and the post won’t be publicized there.
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help!
