issues changing theme name

Im trying to use child themes and the theme switcher plugin. All of that is working fine except for renaming the themes to have relevant names for my users to select. When trying to rename my installed theme in the editor (ei style.css Theme Name:”Name of Theme”), It causes my theme to malfunction. Ive tried renaming it out outside of wordpress and re-installing with the same effect.
Im not understanding how commented out css code is affecting my layout…

We cannot upload and install themes into free hosted WordPress.com blogs as there is no FTP access. That means you are posting to the wrong support forum and need to post where the support bot is pointing to > http://wordpress/ORG/support
