issues in Edit Post at WordPress.com – why?
-
My two blogs at wordpress.com have gone haywire in the last week, and I wonder if this is because 2.7 was introduced on them without asking if the user wanted an update? Have not yet found when 2.7 was introduced.
I am using Chrome and IE in Vista 64, and Safari and Firefox in Apple Tiger ie Mac OSX 10.4.11
The banner “Attribute” spreads right over the posting panel, obscuring the text being entered, and the text panel can no longer be elongated with the mouse at the bottom right hand corner. The text in Edit cannot be entered at a new location in the text unless the cursor is placed in the center of any line in the panel, and it cannot be scrolled except with the keyboard arrows after placing the cursor in the center of the text. The right hand slot for the button to scroll the text up and down does not respond, nor do the up and down tabs at the top and bottom of the slot.
Why is this a mess on WordPress.com itself? I upgraded to WordPress .2.7 on my site at scienceguardian.com and it functions fine, with none of these issues using the same PCs (Safari and Firefox on Apple, Chrome and Internet Explorer on Vista 64).
I have some suggestions. As a newbie to raising issues about WordPress I went by error first to WordPress.org which lacks a good home page with clear notices of the fact that it is separate from wordpress.com, or eg when 2.7 was introduced, whether there are problems with it, etc. and lacks instructions to go to wordpress.com if the problem is found there. WordPress software also lacks any easily visible indication at least on my own wordpress.com blogs as to what version is being used. At least on mine the version number is not visible. Is it automatically 2.7 now?
As champion blog software it should easily show its version. Am I just missing it?

Have you read the existing threads on the upgrade? There are about a hundred posts already.

Everyone at WP.COM uses the same software. We have no choice of versions: if there are upgrades, that’s what we have. No choice to upgrafe Keep in mind that the software we use is “free.” wp.ORG uses different software.
Your reference to ” banner “Attribute” ” and descriptions of “text panel” don’t sound like .COM software.
Are you sure your blogs are on .COM as opposed to .ORG? Did you read the sticky post at the top of this forum?

Yes I read the explanation and my blogs are at wordpress.com, all five of them, with only two busy. The only difference I kinow of with anyone else’s is that I have made mine private for the moment. No I haven’t had time to comb the hundreds of posts on on the upgrade, but I will as soon as I can find the time, since apart from anything else it takes much longer for me to post now.
So everyone uses the same software and it is upgraded regardless? OK thanks. Hard to see where my set up could be causing the problems referred to though, since I am using three browsers and two OS’s and get the same flaws. Also I really want to know is if you have the same problems or not. Do your scrolls work OK and can the cursor be at any point without interfering with scrolling? My cursor has to be more or less in the center of a text line for the complete set of menu options to appear around the text writing panel, and for scrolling with a mouse scroll button to work, which is the only way I can move the text.
I assume you don’t have these problems. I would think it was Vista 64 incompatibility but they appear on Tiger on a Mac Mini too. Many thanks anyway.
