Issues linking child pages within parent page

  For my portfolio (parent) page, I want to have 3 sections within it: professional, academic, and photography (child pages). This is something I will need to build on but for this initial phase I created a parent portfolio page and typed in the 3 sections linking them with the corresponding child pages. This method did not work as I noticed for the photo post it attached to all 3 child pages. How do I get these to link to the appropriate pages?
