Issues recovering deleted domain

    So I wanted to delete my old website rramosbaez.wordpress.com, since I bought the domain rramosbaez.com and have been hosting it through hostgator. I accidentally deleted them both yesterday. I heard it is possible for me to recover my website if I do it within the next 30 days, but strangely, my website rramosbaez.com says it’s not associated with my account. This makes no sense, since I have a receipt for it on this account. wondering what I can do. Thanks!

    Hi there,

    You bought the domain, rramosbaez.com, from us. So while you’re hosting it at Hostgator, the domain registration is with us, and connected to your WordPress.com site, rramosbaez.wordpress.com. In other words, even though you’re not using that WordPress.com site, you still need it, because that’s how you manage your domain.

    I’ve now restored both the site and domain to your account. You might need to reconnect the domain to your site in your hosting control panel at Hostgator as well. Please contact their support should you need help with that.

    If you want to transfer your domain registration to Hostgator so you can manage it directly with them going forward, you can do it by following the process here:

    Once you’ve completed that process (which will automatically remove the domain from your site), it will be safe to delete your WordPress.com site again.
