Issues trying to change admin email
-
I help manage a website that uses WooCommerce plugins, and we have a wordpress.com account to manage it. I need to change the admin email, so I’ve started that process. I’ve received the confirmation email, and have clicked on the link. However, nothing happens. It simply reloads the Account Settings page, with the following message at the top:
Please, verify your email address.
Verifying your email helps you secure your WordPress.com account and enables key features. Is there something I’m missing? I’ve tried clearing out cookies, using incognito mode (suggested by WordPress), using a different browser. Nothing. It’s completely ignoring the reset command. What can I do??

Hi Airbill,
I see that you’ve already tried clearing your cookies, but have you also tried deleting your browser’s cache? Sometimes cached files can cause unexpected behavior, and clearing them might just do the trick.
If it still doesn’t work, you could also try using another device or a completely different network.
However, if all else fails, I recommend reaching out to a Happiness Engineer from WordPress. They can help investigate the underlying issue with your account.
Let me know how it goes!

Hi there, I’ve gone ahead and flagged your thread for staff assistance. In the meantime, have a look at this guide https://wordpress.com/support/email-address/
Are you trying to change the admin email address under this same WordPress.com account (airbill)? If so, please add the email addresses involved, old and new, to this public thread. The forum software will redact them from public view, but staff will still be able to see them. Write them normally like (email visible only to moderators and staff) <example email redaction

Thank you. It’s a different account, actually.
The old email is (email visible only to moderators and staff)
The new email should be (email visible only to moderators and staff)

UPDATE: It appears to have finally worked this morning. Not sure why, haven’t done anything differently. But I decided to give it one last shot, and it worked. Thanks to all who replied.

Thanks for coming back and letting us know that you were able to resolve this.
Just so you know for the future, when you need support, you also need to request it while logged in to the account involved.
