issues with adding links to media

  it seems to be working now for me in Chrome too. I wonder if the fix hasnt applied for Firefox. Sorry to hear its not working for you @shoreacres

  Hi shoreacres,

  You mentioned that you are inserting an image from a URL. Does the same thing happen if you upload the image to your media library and insert it from there?

  Also, do you have another browser you can try it in, to see if it’s only a problem for you in Firefox now?

  I can’t reproduce the problem anymore, even in Firefox with the steps you described, so it may help me track down your issue if I know whether those are factors for you.

  I’ve not used the media library for years, and prefer not to use it. But, I’ll give it a try and see what happens.

  I still have IE, but it’s refusing to open any WP pages, including my blog. Who knows what that’s about? :-)

  OK – if I add a photo from my gallery, and then use “add/edit link” from the toolbar, it works.

  So, it seems that it’s adding the image from a URL that’s the issue.

  It seems to be fixed for me now too, on FireFox and Win7.

  My process was the same as others; Add Media, Insert into post (from library), select image by clicking and click ‘Insert/edit link’ button in toolbar to click the box to ‘Open link in a new window/tab’ and click ‘Update’.

  It works again as before. The image doesn’t disappear to be replaced by a text link.

  Just to reemphasize: the issue is NOT resolved for me, because I prefer to insert images from a URL. Thanks.

  Hoorah! We have resolution! It seems to be working now. If I have any other problems, I’ll post, but several tries have now been successful. Many, many thanks!
