Issues with Canceled Domain Mappping

    Im trying to build a self new self hosted site.
    I used the wordpress.com domain mapping feature before but i bought the domain from godaddy.
    I have already deleted the domain mapping feature here in wordpress.com and redirected the name servers on go daddy to point to the new host where I have installed wordpress.

    The issue is, when this domain placed on the address bar this warning appears:

    ‘Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. ‘

    This tells me that wordpress.com still has some control somehow.
    What should I do?

    Hi – Can you confirm the custom domain involved? DNS changes can take up to 72 hours to become fully activated.

    Good evening, recently i have cancelled my domain named megaair.net in wordpress but when i check this domain online it says that This domain has been parked with Automatic. how can i used it to the other provider if it is parked.? thanks

    Hi –

    Here are the instructions to transfer a domain to another provider: https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/

    It’s not possible to transfer a canceled domain. I’ve added the domain back to your account so you don’t loose ownership of it.

    What you’ll need to do is update the name servers for now. This will tell the internet to show your new site and not the WordPress.com version.

    Here are the details on the name servers: https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-name-servers/

    Once the domain is old enough, 60 days old, you can transfer it with the above instructions.

    Because we’ve issued a refund already we will need you to pay for the registration of the domain again. I’ve emailed a payment link to your account.

    Hi Lizkarkoski, yes im trying to work on http://cedarcrestdmci.com/.
    So i should just wait 72 hours? I didn’t know how to change DNS so I just deleted the domain mapping feature here in wordpress.com for that domain.

    That depends. I’m not sure I understand what the end goal is. Are you trying to use cedarcrestdmci.com as a WordPress.com site? If so you’ll need to re add the mapping upgrade.

    If not, it is working for me in my browser just fine. Can you see it?

    I am trying to upgrade to a new self hosted site using the domain I bought from godaddy http://cedarcrestdmci.com/.

    This domain used to be linked to cedarcrestdmci.wordpress.com by the domain mapping feature.

    I have installed a new wordpress.org installation at a new host (SiteGroud). I have then deleted the domain mapping feature in wordpress.com. Then I proceeded to set the namesrvers in godaddy to point to the new host.

    What shows up in my browser when I write http://cedarcrestdmci.com/ however is a warning:

    ‘Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. ‘

    I’m not sure if its just a propagation issue since its been a few days now. Is there something I missed?

    Good Morning –

    Are you still seeing the domain mapping warning? When I visit the site I am able to load a non-WordPress.com site. Which tells me you’ve been successful.
