Issues with CATEGORIES
-
Hello, I’m in the process of launching a new blog that features two different blogs separated by category.
For some reason whenever I select a category for a specific post, the link for the category comes out as a “tag” link. Obviously tags are completely different than categories and i need for the link to stay within my blog, which is why i’m using categories rather than tags.
The default category “uncategorized” works properly and displays all posts within the “uncategorized” category, but any other categories are linked as tabs. Weird. (do you think i could have used the word category enough in that last sentence?)
The blog is:
lghblog.wordpress.comI would appreciate any help.
Thanks!

I had the same issue. Apparently this is by design. See https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/change-to-linking-of-post-categories?replies=9

First, you need to add the Categories widget (for your sidebar).
Category tabs in the sidebar link to a page with your relevant posts; category tabs under a post link to global wp. That’s the way things work.
Note that a category won’t display in the sidebar unless there’s at least one post assigned to it.
Also note that tags are not “completely different than categories”. They have a different role in your blog (categories = general post subgroups, tags = key words related to the content of a post), but for search engines they are exactly the same.
