Issues with domain transfer
-
Hi,
I purchased the domain smdbhangraclub.com in 2009. It seems like a couple years later, the hosting was fully transferred to Wild West Domains without my knowledge, and now I have no way of accessing that. I need to understand:
1) Why it was transferred to this random company?
2) How I can access my account with them so I can gain access to the domain? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The domain was always with Wild West Domains – that is our registry partners. WWD acts behind the scenes to register and manage domains for us.

You can still go through us. We act as intermediary between the user and WWD. So, if you need to retrieve your domain from redemption for example, you contact us and we contact them on your behalf.
I checked with WWD and smdbhangraclub.com is indeed now in a redemption period. You can still renew your domain through us, but it is now a more expensive and complicated process to do so. Our registrar charges an $80 late renewal fee in addition to the $26 we charge to renew the domain. The good news is that this is still a chance of reclaiming the domain through this option.
Your other option is to wait until the redemption period is over so that the domain becomes available for registration again. Domains are usually in redemption for approximately 80 days, but with this option, you run
the risk of someone else jumping in front of you to purchase the domain before you get the chance. Please let me know if you want to proceed with paying the late renewal fee in the attempt to reclaim the domain name. This option is also time sensitive because the domain can be auctioned off to an expired domain bidder.
I would suggest enabling the auto-renew option so that you will not have to worry about losing control over your domain in the future.
