Issues with followers (some don't receive invites, don't appear as 'accepted')

I am having issues with inviting people’s email addresses to follow my blog.

I have just realised that many of my invitations have not reached the inboxes of the people I am trying to contact. After resending the invite, my friends have checked their spam filter and there is no invite from my wordpress to follow my blog. It states ‘Waiting’ on the Date Accepted. What should I do as I am missing some key people for my site?

A few also state “blocked” under date accepted. Is this due to spam filtering? Why are these ones blocked.

I receive an email every time someone follows my site. I have 30 confirmed followers in my inbox though only 23 as ‘Accepted’ (as counted in Dashboard>Users> Invite New). That means there are 7 followers which should be listed as ‘Accepted’ ? Why are they still appearing as ‘Waiting’?

I am very confused. Please help. Ideally, is there a way for my friends to actively chose to follow my site without having to receive an invite (and without having to open a wordpress account). In other words, they send me a request to follow using solely their email address.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Paul

  • I recommend trying to re-send the invitation at least one. It’s possible that it never arrived.

“Blocked” means that they decided to block all emails from WordPress.com, either before or after you sent the invite.

You could also have Followers who subscribed themselves, hence the discrepancy between confirmed and accepted.

    Hi Macmanx,

Thanks for your help. I will try resending my invites but this does not consistently work.

Otherwise, I would be grateful if you could advise me on how to set up my blog so that readers could just chose to subscribe via inserting their email addresses (instead of me sending them an invite).

My current set up involves using a contact form to obtain an email address which then I copy and paste into ‘Invite New Users to Your Blog’. However, i would rather skip this step and allow the reader to automatically subscribe himself.

Have not had much luck in finding a suitable support page. this is the most relevant though doe snot meet my requirements:

    THANKS

  • Instead of doing that, just add the Subscribe widget to your blog’s sidebar.
